Academic Load
The average load for undergraduate students is 15 to 18 hours each semester. The maximum without special permission is 21, including 10 hours of Chinese language classes.  All the study hours for the language courses are set up by Providence University based on the agreement with your home institution. A student who wishes to register for more or less study hours should send an application to the Division of Academic Exchange Affairs, OIA. For the graduate students, the average load is 9 to 12 hours.

Class Attendance
It is expected that students enrolled in a course will attend class regularly. Failure to do so may adversely affect the final grade received. A student who needs to take a leave must apply online or get permission from instructors.

Course Changes
Once a student has registered online, he/she is free to drop/add online during the registration period. It is recommended that students consult with the advisor prior to dropping and adding classes. Normally, courses cannot be changed after the time period designated in each term’s calendar.

Withdrawal from Class
A student could only make an official withdrawal from one class each semester if he/she finds the class fails to meet the need.

Activity participation
International exchange students are expected to introduce their home institution at International Corner (I. Corner) at least one time per semester. Furthermore, they must help with the promotion of their home institution on 411 Study Abroad Fair. The schedule will be released when dates for the presentations are confirmed.

Leaving PU
Your home institution (or ISEP) will receive your transcript after you complete your semester study at Providence University. Before you leave, you need to fill out the “Check-out” form and submit it to our incoming coordinator along with your feedback of the exchange study (500 words).
